Very nice. I had all of those when I was shooting in competition, all with
custom Herrett's grips except the Hi-Standard which I left stock. I also had
Herrett's on my .45 Gold Cups and Dinan .45, and later on my S&W Model 55 --
that was in .45 Auto if you're not familiar with the model. It used either
.45 Auto Rim cartridges or standard .45 Auto in half-moon clips. I used the
.45 revolver just part of one year in competition, thinking its better
trigger would help me out, but for whatever reason it never did shoot as
well as the Gold Cups. I sold my first Gold Cup because Al Dinan promised to
have my .45 ready by the next year's outdoor season, but he spent more time
hunting and fishing than working and when the season started I had to buy
another Gold Cup until my Dinan job was ready.

I wish now I'd taken photos of those when I had them. For that matter I wish
I'd photographed all the guns I had. I have no idea why I didn't.

Dang, that looks like an original!

I had a nice replica of that Navy when they started making them (Navy Arms)
and it was a lot of fun to shoot. Later on I bought a new Colt Navy -- I
think the parts were all made in Italy, and assembled and finished by Colt's
in Hartford. That was a gorgeous piece.

Filecure Mac

Why do you think it wasn't 'a fair test'? Again, I'm not sure how the group
was shot, but the question is about the accuracy of the cartridge itself,
and the group I saw sure proved it had what it takes. Remember, this wasn't
even match grade ammunition, just some foreign surplus stuff. If it'll shoot
well in a test barrel it'll shoot well in a properly accurized 1911.

Filecure mac

I'd be interested in getting a match version of the Model 92FS, if I were
ever likely to get into any kind of pistol competition again. But that's
extremely unlikely.
